Default Help! I broke it!

Was replacing the IWE's and while I was tightening the nut it snapped. How do replace this? Whats the part called? And is it something I can do or should intake it to a mechanic?

That would be the outer cv joint, most likely you're better off replacing the entire shaft.

Been there done that, the Torque Wrench is your friend!

It's what Rnlcomp said, outer CV joint. If you give me the year, trim and side it's on, i can get you the part number

2014, driver's side, xlt, 4x4.

Thanks for the help fellas. Any body have the procedure for how to replace? I've only found one good post on this and it says just pull hard or hit it with a hammer and it should come out, just a clip holding it in place.

Lol, thats an expensive mistake.

Make sure you install your CVS properly, you rotate them until they lock in before you tighten that nut. If you don't you will be replacing your IWE's too.

Just about the worst feeling in the world, snapping off a bolt. Good luck!

Use a large flat head screw driver or pry bar and gently pry against the housing. Some pop right out, others are a little stubborn. It makes it easier if you pull the strut assembly first.

Thanks cmbowles25 I'll be getting this done on Sunday or Monday after I pick up a decent pry bar.

She's looking sad just sitting out there behind her older cousin.

Success! Amazingly I didn't need a CV axle puller or pry bar or anything. I just pulled on the end of it and it all just popped out. The reman unit I bought was exactly the same except the nut on the end was a 17mm not a 13mm like the old one.

Thanks again everyone for their help.

They come out fairly easily compared to most other parts, not much wiggle room you think the sucker ain't gonna budge them bam it's off
