Default Help, crashed 2010 f150 into a pond

Hey guys, looking for an opinion here. I was driving down the road the other day, had a deer jump in front of me, i swerved and went off the side of the rd. My truck went into a pond. It was only the front end, water was not over the top of the hood but close. I managed to get out. The truck seemed to turn the motor off on its own, the message center said something which i do not recall and cut the motor off. the accessories stayed on. Water did not reach the dash inside only got the carpets wet. I have the opportunity to buy the truck back from the insurance for about 7k. When the appraiser looked at the truck there was no water in the oil, but they tried cranking the motor and it just cranked, did not fire. All the accessories still work, even the power seats. Does anyone know if there is a accident reset or something? DO you think its worth it to buy this truck and not have a car payment? I realize I will not have a warranty.
Thanks for the input guys

Did you check the fuel pump shutoff? All fuses? Water in air filter? Alignment okay?

I can't tell you if I think (opinion) you should buy it without pictures.

Heck, if I had the money and space, I would opt to buy that one outright and then finance a new one! It sure would be nice to have every spare part imagineable laying around

On a lighter note, check the manual for a fuel pump shutoff or some other shut off switch in the event of an accident. I believe most cars have this, and they are usually in strange places (ie. behind glovebox).

Good luck.

At the front of the engine behind the radiator is a relay/fuse box...may want to see if the fuses blew due to the water hitting it...

+1 on the fuses, and if nothing obvious there then id check the fuel shut off switch, should just be a button you press and it will reset it. usually its by the pedals by the hood release latch

No. Owner's manual 313:

FUEL PUMP SHUT-OFF
In the event of a moderate to severe collision, this vehicle is equipped with a fuel pump shut-off feature that stops the flow of fuel to the engine. Not every impact will cause a shut-off.

Should your vehicle shut off after a collision due to this feature, you may restart your vehicle by doing the following:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the off position.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the on position.
In some instances the vehicle may not restart the first time you try to restart and may take one additional attempt.

Keyword is collision which this wasn't unless the OP forgot to state that the airbags were deployed hence the PCM registering a collision.

A rear (side or straight on) impact may not set of the air bags, but still trip the fuel shutoff. Same thing can happen with a front-bottom impact (he drove it into a pond) or simply a hard stop with no real bumper impact (like hitting water after going over the bank).

thanks for the quick reply's guys. I do not have access to check fuses as the car is at the insurance salvage lot waiting on final paperwork, etc. The impact was minimal it kinda rolled into the water by that point as I was sliding on snow/ice. but it still looks new no damage whatsoever to anything, was in the water for about 45 minutes. Anyone think if it doesn't start I can part it out on ebay and get at least 10k for it?
