This with a Dremel but if it is rusted in good may not work. A hard whack with a punch and a left hand drill bit may all that you need.

So does it go into the valve cover via an insert or does that bolt thread into the head?
just curious.

Soak it in penetrating oil and hit it with a punch. Use antisieze when you put them back in so it doesn’t happen again.

It screws into an insert in the valve cover.

Do y’all think this is something that I need to worry about immediately? I am leaving for basic training in a couple weeks, and am also in the process of fixing up my house to sell, so most of my time is pressed towards that.

I would feel much more comfortable drilling one of these out than the three i had to do on one side of my Dodge head when the exhaust manifold bolts broke. That was nerve wracking but I dot it done. Used reverse drill bits , heat and screw extractors.

Just got to experience this same bolt mishap on my 2012.
deja vu all over again. 4.6L exhaust manifold bolt failures.
What is it with using the weakest bolt we can find?
Great feeling knowing there’s still two inches of threads left in the plastic cover.

Talking Ruted coil hold down srews

Changing the plugs on my 2013 5.0 and every hold down screw was rusted into the plastic. I broke two of them before I changed tactics. this guy :
provided the answer. Heated them with a 140W Weller soldering gun until I could smell plastic and out they came easy peasy. Crappy design by Ford if it's screwed into plastic it should be a stainless screw.
