Default Help-5.0 or Ecoboost

Newby here. I'm thinking about moving from an f250 to an f150. I have found two platinums. One with 5.0 and one Eco, both with 3.55 rear ends. I plan on installing bilstein 5100s on all four corners with 2" of front leveling and running 33 inch tires. I havent decided on which tire or exact size yet but do not want to go to a 35 inch. Should I get the 5.0 or Eco? I do not pull trailers. Thanks for the help.

Use the search function on this topic. It seams several times a week someone brings this same question up. Test drive both, it's the only way to make your decision.

"I do not pull trailers"
Either one will work well for general driving. Do you have a color choice? Is one less $ than the other?

Test drive both back to back, whichever gives you more spm (smiles per mile) get that. You'll like both its just whichever you'd rather have. Good engines, personal preference

I have test driven both. Eco seemed to have more throttle response and torque. Color and cost does not matter. What I am after is which engine would be best for the configuration outlined above? Does the extra weight and drag render the mpg savings of the ecoboost irrelevant compared to the 5.0?

If you liked the Eco better it only makes sense to buy the Ecoboost. Either engine is good for your configuration. Mpg with Ecoboost will be better than the 5.0, but not substantially.. Probs 2-3 mpg more

I have 2012 super crew 4wd with the Eco and i debated the samething. Love the power of the Eco but the mileage has never been what the window sticker claimed but still better than any gas powered truck I have owned. Mine has the intercooler problem and has been sitting at the dealer for 2.5 weeks and they told me yesterday the best case is the first week in April for the replacement parts. Dealer gave me a 2013 2wd with the 5.0 to drive until its fixed. The mileage is a little better with the 5.0 but being a 2wd that's expected. If I was buying a new one I probably would get the 5.0 because I am not 100% convinced they have this intercooler problem figured out yet. The 5.0 also sounds great if that matters to you.

AgAe, for what you gonna do to the truck and you got to go with the 5.0. The engine growl is only gonna make that truck talk the talk. I like the low end growl and whine of the ecoboost but i am not doing the lift kit and big tires, if i did it would be the 5.0 all the way, gas/fuel mileage is so close its not even worth talking about. But drive both and see what makes you smile the most. Good luck with your choice.

If you have driven both and can't decide, we sure as hell can't help you.
