Default Help 2011 paint peeling????

I just bought a 2011 black FX4 w/27k miles at the end of June that was certified pre owned. I looked over it very good since I've owned 4 previous vehicles that were black although it was raining off and on that day. Looked like your normal swirl marks and rock chips that are always more visible on black but that was all. I finally got to wash it over the weekend since it rained for a week straight here and noticed something wasn't right when the water hit the body. Looked like how it does when u are spraying bugs from your grille or bumper. When I dried it off I noticed it looked like a clear tape peeling in spots on my drivers side front fender. I can take my nail and scrape it off. Its only like this above the wheel on the fender but its from the headlight to the door. Is my clear coat coming off already or is it something else that ay have been applied to the truck? Would it be covered under the CPO warranty? Here are some pics sorry if its hard to tell. The truck was shiny and the sun was out

I would definitely take it back to the dealer and cry foul and invoke your CPO warranty protection.

I'm really wondering if they had something to do with it. Does a new clear coat spray take 30 days to cure like other paints? I washed it 2 weeks after I bought it and it had rained probably 10 of the days prior to the wash. Maybe they fixed something and didn't disclose it

Hopefully a auto-body guy on here will chime in soon....looks to me as stated in o.p. that the clear coat is peeling. Weird, never seen that before. I'd get on the phone to the service manager as soon as you can. Don't know if paint is included in the cpo or not, but nonetheless that shouldn't be happening period and you just picked it up a few weeks ago. Any reputable dealer should step up and fix it the correct way covered under warranty or not. I'd raise hell in the most respectable way possible.

Even if they did reclear it . It shouldn't have done that .. As far as you washing it 2 weeks after has no effect on the clear coat .. It may take some time for the clear to fully cure but is dry to the touch usually within 24 hrs . All of this depends on where they sprayed it and what enviroment it was sprayed in .... hope this helps .

It probably wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't black. I expect a used black truck to have some scratches or swirl marks but peeling clear coat is something I've never seen. The truck I traded in was an 09 f150 that was black and it never had that problem. I just worry if it's peeling on one spot already is the rest of the truck going to eventually happen too?

Yes , it will eventually keep peeling from where it started. I had a 2004 fx4 and I never had this problem either and it was wearing it's original paint .. let's us know what they say

I bought it from a dealer about an hour and a half away from me. I took it to the one in my town where I live and he said he thinks the fender was repaired and repainted and that the dealership that I bought it from should not have gave it the CPO with such shotty work. Guess I'm going on a drive when I have time
