I recently purchased a 2013 XLT crew cab. The truck doesn't appear to have many options. I have been looking at upgrading my mirrors so I will have directional / puddle lights. The mirrors I see on E-bay and at dealers are also heated. I would like the heated option to be functioning but I don't have a rear defrost switch / window. recommendations? I was thinking I might be able to add an aftermarket switch to run just the heated mirrors. Pro / Con? Also is the wiring already in place so I can plug-n-play the mirrors to have directional / puddle lights?

I have a 2014 stx sport and I installed the mirrors and everything worked like factory. the only thing I have to do is get the heater control for the heated mirrors to work. I would like to put a switch like you mentioned but I haven been able to find a wiring diagram for the heated mirrors to do so.

Is this true? All Lariat?

Mine do not works if this is true. Fuse is good. Not indicated on rear defrost switch.

Lots of threads on upgrading outside mirrors on the site. Here is one of the best:

yup. Do you have a rear power sliding window? The indicator does not light if there is no rear defroster but the mirrors will still work

I have a 2013 xlt crew cab with power mirrors no other options. I got a set of tow mirrors with heated mirror option, blinkers, and puddle lights. They were plug and play with everything working except heated mirror option. My truck does not have that option or rear heated window, so no button to activate the heated mirror. I bought another climate control module off ebay with the rear defrost button, installed that and everything seemed to work. although the more i looked, i noticed now my external temp is stuck at 50 degrees, and with the remote start the heat/ac dont turn on. Gonna try another climate control module with the heated mirror only button not rear defrost.
