Default Headlight issues

Hi everyone, new to the forum and am hoping to get some help.

I have a friend with a 2010 F-150 Platinum.

A couple of months ago we installed an HID kit. Just the other day one light stopped working so we unplugged the problematic side. There was a significant amount of moisture in the main H13 plug on the HID kit and the factory H13 plug on the vehicle. Because of the moisture the plug is not making proper contact with the light and is not firing up.

We even tried the stock halogen bulb back in the H13 connector and it didn't light up. It has to be because of the moisture.

I was just going to take a hair dryer to the plug to dry out all the moisture. I also took some compressed air and cleaned up the connector. There was some corrosion around one of the 3 holes in the h13 plug.

Does anybody have any other recommendations on how to get that plug working? I'm guessing that once we get it nice and dry it should fire back up. If anybody has any other suggestions let me know. Is it possible that something else could be damaged?

And please, let's not turn this into an anti HID thread. I know HID's are not technically street legal and that the car doesn't have projector headlights etc etc etc.

Thanks for the help.

If the problem persists you might consider removing the HIDs and putting back the stock OEM lights in. Then you can take it to the dealer to be serviced under warranty. Inconvenient - yes. But the problem should get taken care of and then you can reinstall the HID kit.

Thanks guys.
Checked the fuses and they look good.
Have not tried dielectric grease but great suggestion, pickin some up today!

Another one of our buddies seems to think it could be the "lighting control module" ??? I don't even know what this is...but I would imagine that the truck would throw an error code AND the headlight fuse would be gone first before anything else. Does anybody have any idea?

These trucks have a smart power distribution block. It will monitor voltage for almost everything. I'm not sure if both headlights are on the same circuit or if the isolated them. You could try a battery disconnect and see if it resets anything. Once I get home I'll look up the diagram.
