What year is your F150? If it's a 2012 all you have to do each time you back up scoll down on the dash menu to disable and it will cease until you finish all your manuvers. If you want to disable it permanetly go to settings and disable. I just do each time I have my trailer on and it stays off until I'm done and then it works when I need it next time. Jimnh1

Jim, I have a 2012 and I just get a zoom option menu... I am going crazy trying to figure this out. After I put it in reverse what do I do? I too am having issues while backing up with a trailer. Thanks for your help.

After putting in reverse hit the down arrow on the left side of your steering wheel controls then press OK.

My 12 FX4 defaults to on after turning off the ignition even when disabled in the dash cluster. Makes having a 5.5ft bed even more annoying since the tailgate needs to be down to haul a lot of things.
Anybody know how it senses the 7 pin connector? Like said before, maybe there's a way to trick it?

I have a 2004 F150 and the P is in the off position and my sensors do not work. I want them to work so how can I turn them back on. Thanks
If anyone knows please send me an email.

I finally got tired of it enough that I just unplugged the horn speaker. If I need it to work again, like if I were to sell the truck (yeah, right...), simply plug it back in. Took me all of about 35 seconds. Now I have peace and quiet -and- still have the back up camera.
Under the dash, a black plastic box.
HTH!

Do you get an error message?

No error message, and while not sure about the phone muting, I know that the radio does NOT mute while backing up. Remember, the speaker box is the back up warning control box. If it's disconnected, it can't work.

Unplugged the box and no error message, no more constant beeping and everything still works IE: camera, reverse lights. The screen that pops up to turn them off no longer allows you to select on/off, but who cares. Volume no longer decreases in reverse either.
In case anyone was wondering, this is what the box looks like:

I made a sensor shroud that does not see the bike
I realize this is an old thread, but I discovered this today...
Why have a menu item if you they are just going to override it every time you start the truck? Hauled a dirt bike for the first time today. Lots of in and out, backing, parking, restarting. It seems like if I want to turn off my sensors and keep them off, it damn well should let me!
I bet you could rig a 7-pin plug with some resistors to simulate a trailer load and stick it in when driving with the tailgate down, but it seems stupid to have to do that. Plus it probably will also then put the truck into all the trailer stability modes when you don't want it...
