Does anyone have a detailed video or write up of how to get the grill insert out of the surround properly?

 

Largely depends on the kind of grille you have, I took my XLT grille apart to transplant an FX ptm surround. With the grille removed from the truck flip it over and look for the tabs that protrude thru the grille body as seen in this pic...



Use a popsicle stick to spread the locking tabs apart and you should have no trouble separating the pieces as seen in this pic...
