Default going through water...

Well a ton of storms have gone through Ohio, and to get home I had to go through many flooded roads yesterday. How many of you guys had to deal with doggy basements and taking your truck through water? Truck did great but at 1 point I was going through a ft of water that was coming over the road and the truck bogged down a little but it was the last resort to get to the house. Came home to a few inches off water in the basement. Up until 2 weeks ago our house has stayed dry for the 2.5 years we lived there... wish I had a pic of the truck coming through that last but if water though!

I also drove through roughly a foot or so of standing water yesterday. Truck did just fine. It was either the water or drive over a power pole so I took the water.

Not sure why it would bog down for a foot of water. Havent had to drive my Ford through any deep water (yet) but I did drive my previous truck through about 30" of water when the road to work flooded a few years ago. The only ill effects were that my horn sounded weird for a couple months. A co-worker with a Tacoma had an issue with one of the pulleys not long after he drove through...might have been related, might not.

As long as the water stays below the intake, ingestion shouldnt be an issue. Electrical connections could be an issue if submerged as could axles if you submerge the vents. I think Ford's stance is to keep it below the center of the wheel...

I have been told that after that sort of wet driving, the wheel bearings are supposed to be repacked

When I was station in Biloxi, MS i took mine through Hurricane Issac when it was was blowing through full force cause my wife had never seen a hurricane before (shes from the Youngstown, OH area too). See water was covering hwy 90 about a foot or so, plus various streets close the the Back Bay of Biloxi were covered a foot or more too. Truck went through like a champ minus the battery light coming on a few times. Had to have the alternator replace a week later from the sea salt water corroding it..luckily it was under warranty. We live in Austintown now so no more fun hurricanes for me

Wow.. More people from Ohio. Nice.
I took my old one through some powerlines roads in liberty... Only were like 2 decent deep holes to my floor boards. I never had an issue.. I hit them hard the first time through pushing the muddy water up to my headlights in front of me.. Want sure how the base was and didn't want to get pulled out by the suburban there in case. Go Ford!!

Since ur from the area, my truck i just traded in is on fairway fords website finally under used. 09 blacked out 4x4. Seeing her all shined up and tailgate fixed makes me miss her.. :-(
