I have never heard of waxing wheels. Mine are chrome and constantly get brake dust on them so waxing sounds good. What kind of wax do you use? Can wax hurt the wheel?

I have black american racing rims, I regret not powder coating them, I'm going to try waxing them like you say, what about spraying a clear coat on them? like the duplicolor stuff in the can you buy at any parts store

I have always put wax on my wheels, as long as you use something clear coat safe. I use Mothers because it lasts longer than Collinite 845 on the wheels though. A layer of protection never hurts.

Use a paint sealant. Adams Liquid Paint Sealant or H20 guard and gloss are two good ones. Collinite 845 lasts a while too. The idea is to protect the wheel and make it easier to clean. Clear coat won't make it easier to clean and likely will change the appearance of the wheel.

Wax or sealant will help prevent any pitting from salt or deposits from brake dust/etc. Anything applied to wheels won't last as long as on your paint. Wax will generally last a week or two, sealants about a month on wheels. I use Adam's products, generally liquid paint sealant or h20 guard and gloss.

Well I picked them up and started the waxing! It's a painstaking process but I'm sure it will be worth the investment!

Yes - always wax wheels. They should be treated the same as the painted body.
