Default Getting Ford to pay for paint repair out-of-warranty

My 2011 FX4 has had some paint peeling issue under the driver’s side bed rail cap. It started probably around 75k miles and six years old. I know it’s out of warranty, but I really feel it’s a manufacturing defect and not wear-and-tear.

Has anyone ever been able to get this type of repair paid for out of warranty? If so, how?

Good luck. After dozens of F-150s, they all chipped near the tailgate handle, on the edges as seen in your picture, doors, cab corners, etc. I will guarantee you that Ford won't cover this. Your best bet would be to peel the paint and touch it up with some paint.

Are you the first owner? Was there a canopy on the truck, ever?

Agreed. Definitely will not be covered. Use a touch up pen.

Still trying to figure out why people think that a paint, motor, transmission, radio or any other problems that happen outside of warranty should be paid for out of the manufacturers pocket. In most instances if it is close a dealer might help but if it started while under warranty you should have brought it in under warranty, not when the vehicle is almost 8 years old and probably more than at least 40,000 miles outside the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty.
Sorry just something that always bothered me, that and the first post with a motor with 125K and asking if there is a class action lawsuit for the turbo going out

OK, I am off my soapbox for now

Thing is people think just because they spent a lot of $$ on it it must have warranty coverage because they can't afford to buy another one so soon.

Those same people say "meh I only paid $19.95 for that toaster that now only browns one side of the bread" they toss it and buy another. Amazes me how much entitlement people think are due them.

Want it done right...just take it to a detail shop...one that specializes in this sort of repair.
