That's a good deal. It's not the same as mine. Mine is the 9" tab and had android 4.0 this only has 2.1 but not a bad deal non the less

Crutchfield has one but I don't remember if it's Metra or not. I think it was only $35.

You can do this out of the box on android. The only problem and both iPad and android have this is it does not charge fast enough using the sync USB plugs.

Just had a thought,
Geno your tablet works with Audio&controls/audio touch creen via USB out of the box? (Or is it mounting the tablet as a USB stick and just reading the music)
Mine didn't have that functionality.

If that's the case, you can buy USB 'Y' cables that will use the data from one source and the charging form another. Those cables used to come with those USB hard drives.... I wonder if it will work...

Mine works audio controls & audio touch screen via USB and Bluetooth. Using each allows me to change songs with steering wheel controls. I would love to be able use USB to charge and output to sync. But charging is the problem that may be an option I need to look into.

But what I may do is get a powered USB hub tie that into the ac inverter tat came stock on my truck then use that Hrmmm

Is it gonna hurt if power is supplied and back feeding power into the sync system I wonder...

Even with the hub..finding one that will supply 2.1 amps is gonna be hard. Let me know if you do.

On a side note, playing with the nexus 7, that I can't mount yet (work ftl), I have found a great ROM with better tablet UI. Looks 10 times better in landscape than stock and very easy to customize, SmoothROM. Install it with tablet UI. Can even get rid of the Google bar on the home screen...move the status bar to the bottom and moved the buttons to the left. Still tinkering...

Hmm.. thats nice, when i first got my tab , that didn't work... i wonder if it now works. (tried it when i had honeycomb, now i have jellybean)

Well, here a quick search for a usb hub with 2.1 amps http://www.newertech.com/products/7_...d_usb2_hub.php
I'm using an AC converter for my tab, works out great.

I saw a test done with the charging of the tablets, an important part of the charging is the cable. Make sure to use a short "fat" cable. fat meaning with the biggest gauge wire possible.

It shouldn't back feed into the system with a hub, possibly with that cable, The cable was designed to take two power sources and combine them. (is the sync USB powered while off?)

I'm considering changing to the nexus 7, main reason is cause google controls the device, and doesn't limit the functionality,

Jscott, what tab/ version of android are you using?

I picked up the Acer Iconia Tab a110. It's got Android 4.1 which I thought supported usb audio. I can't seem to get it to play through sync if I use the tab but I can use sync itself as I would with a flash drive. FYI, the Acer will charge through the standard usb.
