I love these FORD trucks. They make many models to suit a variety of taste. There will be parts available to modify as far as your wallet will allow. Now that I have declared that I am not biased toward one model, here is my point:

1. If you really think that the Ecoboost will achieve good mpg's like a regular F150 after you slap on some 34 or 35's and change the suspension and gearing, you need to wake up! I repeat Wake Up! You will be sadly disappointed at the MPGs. I love the ecoboost, but when you mod it out as you describe, you will not get the mpgs that you were getting stock, not even close. (Have a friend that modded his the way you describe, he is getting worse mpg than I get with my Raptor)

2. I respect you want to make it your own and original. How long do you plan to keep the vehicle? Mods will amount to ZERO in resale value in most cases. (unless you find that one buyer that has to have it) Most will look at the book value and dont care what you added. If you purchase the Raptor, well then the mods are built into the vehicle as it was produced. Therefore, if you decide you need something else down the road, the return on your investment will not be as poor as making it your own with a FX4. Just something to think about..

I really love the FX4, Raptor, Lariat, Plat, and all the engine choices. I am not biased toward the Raptor. I am merely offering some things to think about before your purchase. Good luck with your decsion and please post some picture of your build, or your new Raptor when you make a decision.

Whatever you do, don't do the aftermarket Raptor panels and grille baloney.

It looks meatball.

You talkin about the kit for the 2010? I see no mention of a long travel for 2011 F150 anywhere...

I posted this in another thread...

500 =
$9657.00 for just suspension - now a 'standard' f150 has LT but still has the light duty axles and you have to pay someone to install all this stuff - it will cost you at LEAST 4k for install.

conservative price all said and done for JUST suspension = $13,657.00

that is very conservative as the vendor's on the Raptor Forum have said repeatedly that you will burn through 15-20k easily trying to get a LT built, installed and setup correctly.

Glad this got brought back from the dead. I was going to go with the camburg until I read the limitations on tire choices so that's out. I think I'm going with a coilover setup that will give me the desired lift then just run the wheel and tire combo I want. Thinking icon or king.

I really don't get the point of a long travel setup on an F150. Why spend that kind of crazy money on an F150? For that I would get the Raptor. As it is, the Performance kit was way expensive, but I thought it was a worthwhile investment for what intend to do with my truck. For me it was a perfect compromise between the features I wanted which were not available on the Raptor and the utility I wanted.

The limitations with the Camburg kit aren't on tire choice, but rather WHEEL choices, and that's only due to backspacing issues so that the tire doesn't rub. I had no problems finding wheels I liked and Toyo M/T 34" tires to fit.

Icon and King are good but for that money, I would go with Fox. Fox is the only one that makes the shafts from stainless steel. They are a MUCH better product than the Icon's or Kings (not saying those are bad though). I've heard about some finish issues with the Kings and them pitting pretty badly. Just a heads up so you can do your homework and not regret an expensive purchase...
