personally, if i was going to buy a 2 wheel drive truck i would go with the fx2. i like the sport cloth, the flow through console, the wheels, the headlights and the tails and i really like the grill. would like one for my fx4. id only buy the xlt if i was getting a 4x4 and couldnt get the fx4.

When I bought my truck I would have loved to have gotten an FX2. There is nothing wrong with the XLT i just prefer the looks and feel of the FX2.

I suggest you set up a spreadsheet and list the options for each model, then choose which you would prefer in each case, then buy the truck that most closely matches your preferences.

we have the 2010 FX2 and just think it looks meaner and sportier. The interior is way nicer then the xlts, stx etc and would of preferred cloth interior ,, it had leather and upgraded seats. Just going to add aftermarket seat heaters. But I had to have the flow through with floor shift vs the standard stuff in the other trucks which doesnt stand out at all. Dont need a center seat and never would want anyone sitting that close to the driver. Dont do it in a car why in a truck!!!

and if you can live without the flow through shifter. Look at tstx man. They are sharp trucks. You can mod it ur way and not be stuck with the same mod as every other fx2.

Personally, i don't like the flow through console as much, you lose a seat and some interior space, i much prefer the shifter on the steering column, and the nice open area i have in the middle...Really it all comes down to preference, i looked at the FX2 as well, but decided on the XLT, had everything I wanted and then some, and saved me a few bucks on top of that...

Im kinda in the same boat. I love the FX2 looks and love the flow through dash. I would love a 4x4 but not sure I need it. I can afford and FX4 or a decked out XLT but that dont have the flow through dash. I just dont like that you cant get a LSD on the FX2. Or is this really not necessary?

I am stationed in Key West so obviously 4wd is not necessary. But I would like to eventually get transferred to NC and buy a house. They do get some snow so any help on how the 4x2 w/o LSD would handle slight snow. I have driven a FWD car in the snow and my current 4wd explorer so I have no 4x2 truck experience and need opinions.

Hopefully you dont mind me asking these questions in your thread OP. Its kinda similiar and I dont think we need to start a new thread. If you want I can though.

We live in Ontario,,,, where you can have winters with almost no snow or a tonne. We live in the city and there is no need for 4x4. Its a personal choice to everyone, but its worse on fuel, higher maintainance and repairs. Put a little weight in the bed in winter if there is any snow or ice and your fine. We could of bought a 4x4 decked out 150 for the cost of the fx2 and like the fx much more! The jump to fx4 was large and not justifiable. Living in FL or NC there is no reason for me to think you need 4x4 unless u off road or somthing.

I am all for having 4WD, sure you may not need it when you sit and think about it but that one time you need it you will be glad you did.

I live in VA and when we get snow you CAN get around in 2WD no problem but it is the other knuckle heads that you have to watch out for and having a 4WD gives me more manuverablility for evasive manuvers!

The fuel savings from not having the extra drag of the front axle is so minute it will barely translate into any savings or mileage increase.

maintanance wise there really is just a little more, transfer case and diff fluid every once in awhile and your set especially if your just using the truck for on road and using 4WD a couple times a year!

For the little bit extra to get a 4WD I would do it, the extra few thousand broke down over the period of the loan is really not much to have the assurance of having 4WD when you need it!
