Default Full size spare

Hi all,

Can a stock rim and tire fit under the box where the spare tire sits?

After throwing 35's on the trucks rims, my spare needs to match.
Having said that, I didn't want to rock a spare with a "taller" tire.

If I'm deep in the woods hunting or off roading, I like the idea of having a matching tire/rim.

Hoping it would fit but it looks like the plate that goes through the center of the rim is too big to fit through the center cap of my spare mag...

Any thoughts?
I like my box empty and don't really want to throw the spare in there.

Thank you.

Yes, they fit, your spare should already be a stock size. We don't put donuts on trucks. 35" will be pretty tight, but I think they fit.

Going to a "35" spare you will probably (?) need to remove the spare wheel shield. Crawl underneath and measure.

*HEADSUP: It's a heat shield to protect the spare from the exhaust's tailpipe.

FWIW ... The Raptor has the same spare wheel shield and it's wheel diameter is 34".

How did this work out for you? I'm about to put a 285/65 R20 on the spare to match the rest of my tires. Did you need to modify or remove the heat shield?

Any info would be truly appreciated.

35"x11.5 on spare rim fits just fine (as would a 12.5"; rim size makes no difference):

I've dropped the spare several times now and there has been zero interference issues with the heat shield and hitch receiver when raising it back up.

To make cranking the spare up and down a breeze, I shaved a 24" long, 1/'2" drive extension to fit the winch to use with a cordless wrench that I pack when off-roading:

You could just get a 3/8 extension, which wouldn't need shaving. I suppose it would need an adapter to mate to a 1/2 impact, though.

3/8" is much smaller than the square drive of the OEM winch handle; I tried and was just way too loose and wouldn't stay in position if I let go of it.
