Default Fuel System Cleaner

Does anyone use Sea Foam in their F150's? I am wondering if I should have the dealer do it periodically or use an additive at regular intervals. I appreciate any opinions. I have a 2012 Fx4 5.0. 20K miles

I prefer Chevron Techron myself. It has some cleaning detergents that many other cleaners lack that work very well. There's much info out there on that product.

+1....

I add a Techron bottle right before each oil change on all of our vehicles.

I added 2 bottles of Techron at empty then added 24 gallons of fuel. It might be all in my head but it seems to run smoother and more peppier.

I have 36k on my 2013 FX4 5.0 and have run 2 cans of sea foam thru mine! I just make sure I have a half tank or more before I add it.

I've used Techron before and it's probably the best from the normal retail brands. I also saw some actual independent tests of the normal 'off the shelf' fuel systems cleaners and Techron was the best by far ....wish I could find that test but it has been a couple years since I read it.

However, recently I have been using Lucas 10003 Upper Cylinder Lubrication & Injector Cleaner about 2/3 times a year and I swear it works better than anything I've used before. It's not only a fuel system cleaner but a 'top end' and injector lubricant as well. I buy the 32oz bottle for ~ $10 at Walmart and use 1/2 of the bottle in the next two consecutive tank fill ups..preferably on long work trips where I burn through both tanks within a day or two..

My 2010 5.4 has 120k miles and doesn't use an ounce of oil between changes nor does it 'smoke' or show signs of oil consumption. BUT when I run this Lucas cleaner I do get some 'blue/black' exhaust at start up after the truck sits overnight after a long drive which makes me think the cleaner is doing it's job and cleaning out the combustion chambers etc....because it only does it during these two tanks.

I use the Lucas product also.

I cant tell any huge difference, but it beats not using anything I guess.

Chevron Techron and the Gumout formulations with regane are the two fuel injector cleaners I know of that are useful and more than just snake oil. The two of them contain PEA (polyetheramine) which is one of the only if not the only additive in fuel injector cleaner proven to work.

Seafoam needs to be used sparingly, I have had it eat o rings out of fuel pumps before because of someone not adhering to instructions.
