Default Front view camera mod (Pics)

Hello everyone,

This is my 2nd thread since I bought my beautiful truck, I wasn't a big fan of the F150 until I bought it and joined this forum. You guys are great and helpful and have amazing ideas and I read threads every single day so thanks.

Lets move on you all know that its difficult to see the end of the hood unlike all other cars (still an awesome truck, who cares!) but when you get use to driving it you will know the dimensions you can feel it, LOL.

I was thinking of the invisible sensors behind the front bumper and I wasn't sure since I don't know anyone have installed it or even mentioned it to me or even on the Internet. So I took the shot on front view camera from Amazon and guess what its more than what I expected.

I went with a 30$ setup:
1-
Front camera Front camera

2-
4.3 4.3" screen

Its very useful for parking and looking what underneath the front bumper, it also has a nice night view and looks very good in the daylight its even better than the stock rear camera (maybe because the screen is relatively small). Anyway the camera is really nice and sturdy its also waterproof and I tested it many time I drive 100 miles more than 10 time and its fine. The quality is excellent for the price instead of buying a 500$ lockpick and oem camera. You just saved 470$ and still can use the screen and the camera at the same time.

Now pictures ...

Be careful when running the wire thru the firewall mine got stuck and cut.

I pulled the pillar and ran the wire in it then it goes down then behind the pedals you can use a hanger or anything hard and thin to run the wire under the dash then thru the firewall and connect it to the camera. I powered it by the ignition fuse inside.

I mounted it with a 3M tape under the FORD emblem and its adjustable.

The only problem I'm having now is that the image is reversed and I think that there is way to do it with inverting the signal or something like that, as you can see just behind the red line is my bumper just for a reference you can adjust it the way you want. Also the screen have two inputs so you can add another camera.

Feel free to ask any questions or have any comments or even if you done this mod before.

My front camera had the same problem with the image being flipped or backward ... Maybe you can change it yourself , but from what I've read most of these cheaper cameras are that way .. But when I switched it to the rear the image is normal ... Works great now , I have front and rear but don't use the front often ..

that's a pretty good alternative. I like the sleek and OEM look of modifying and adding the rear Ford emblem w/ a camera to the front and using that. though that would cost a little more.

is the video always on?

Me too but I will invest in another mod like wheels or leveling kit rather than rarely used front camera. Its all about the money, LOL!

Here is my setup. I believe it's the same monitor you have but the camera is just a little different. Cost right around 30 for both too. I have both the camera and monitor switched to turn on when I want to use it and not have it on all the time.

Nice truck, I'm thinking of buying the Westin pullbar but its so expensive to ship to Saudi Arabia. I like the way you installed your screen but if its on the left side will be much better but the trailer brake is there (never used it). Thanks for sharing.

Your reverse image issue is because you bought the wrong camera. Your amazon link reads a "BACKUP" camera. Thats what you got. so it will reverse the image. Check out ebay for cameras and look for one thats for an image that does not reverse.

Here is one...
