Post Forscan - 2011 (2009-2014) XLT Cellular Remote Start

Hey all,

I take NO credit for any of the following information, but with that said it took me hours of scouring forums to piece this all together.... so... I thought I'd start a thread so that if the next person searches for, will find everything they need to know all in one place, in one post, instead of bits and pieces scattered across a thousand posts and multiple forums (LOL).

This was done on my 2011 F-150 XLT, but I don't know of any reason why this wouldn't work on any 2009-2014 F-150 that has no remote start to begin with:

STEP 1:
Parts Needed:
DL3Z-19A361-A (VSS)
DL3Z-19A390-B (RMU)
Available as a 'kit' here from LevittownFordParts: https://www.levittownfordparts.com/m...al-p-6313.html
Cost (at time of this post): $355 + Shipping = $370-ish

Additional Items Needed:
- Install Forscan Application for Windows (free download @ http://www.forscan.org/download.html)
- Register an account on Forscan.org (needed for next part, and is also free)
- Generate 'Extended License' at forscan.org here: http://forscan.org/forum/extlic.php (also free)
- OBD II Connector (Cheap is fine... you do NOT need the MS-CAN capabilities, I bought a WIFI OBD II Connector on amazon for $17 here:
Amazon Amazon

STEP 2:
Install/Initial Config: Literally took me about 15 minutes, instructions here: https://www.levittownfordparts.com/d...1_23_2015_.pdf
NOTE: The relevant pages are 135-140 & 152-155; ignore the rest of it on Page 155 about 'RMU Activation' and 'VSS Learning' since the VSS was already learned on page 140 the first time. Just install the two units and then 'Learn' the VSS to the vehicle once.

STEP 3:
Using Forscan, change the following BdyCM Values:
- In 726-19-01, change 0047 (disabled) to 0148 (enabled)
The settings to enable remote start are found in the Body Control Module (AS BUILT format)

Using Forscan, change the following IPC Values:
- In 720-01-02, change 6C0A (disabled) to 6F0A (enabled)
The Instrument Panel Cluster settings are found in the IPC Module Configuration (AS BUILT format)
(NOTE 1: This change is not NEEDED for this to work, but it is a nice touch to have it show up in your display under 'settings vehicle remote start'
(NOTE 2: Here is a great document (tutorial) about using forscan, including backing everything up first BEFORE making any changes... highly recommended!: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...it?usp=sharing)

STEP 4: send a PM here to Benny (Forum user: LevittownFordParts) telling him you are ready to go. He will do everything needed from there over the phone and it will take all of 15 minutes or so (usually). He is absolutely fantastic, and I wouldn't recommend anyone else.

STEP 5: Download install Ford Remote Access App:
- iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ford...587040067?mt=8
- Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ess.ford&hl=en

From there you should be all set! Hope this saves the next person some time and anxiety trying to figure it out!

Cheers Everyone!

- Monty

OUTSTANDING Monty.!!!!

Can't wait to get started. We're experiencing another bout of "stupid cold"...
(my term) and we have several of these every winter here in Wisconsin. I do a lot of work for Habitat For Humanity and 2-3 days a week I find myself rolling out of bed at 430a to get to a job site.

Having a reasonably warmed up truck to climb into will certainly take off the edge.

Thanks again and Happy New Years.

Why didn't you just add this to the FORScan thread stickied at the top of this section?

There are 3,083 posts in that thread (to date, with more surely to follow over time), so my idea here was to save someone time by them not having to dig through thousands of posts.

The purpose of that thread is to keep it all in one location. A person might have to do a little searching in it but they're gonna find what they need. There is an in-thread search tool that'll help.

I completely understand what you’re saying Morris, and agree, in principle, but as I stated in the post itself, collecting the “bits and pieces scattered across a thousand posts and multiple forums” needed to understand and execute the 4 simple steps necessary took literally hours longer than actually doing the job itself. So while I agree with you completely in theory, the sole intent here was to save someone time by NOT requiring extensive searching/post reading to find the answer, but instead to have it instantly available. You may disagree with my logic, and I respect that, but it was still my logic.

P.s. The Mods are certainly welcome to bury this in that thread if they deem it appropriate to do so, I won’t be offended.

You have valid arguements and I respect that.

What if your truck came with remote start? What needs to be done?

Per Rnlcomp's post below, if a vehicle already has the 100 Series remote start capability (w/fob), then it will still require the VSS & RMU since that is not included. (Not sure about whether or not the VSS is a part of a 200 Series R/S installation though).

I assume there is a subscription fee for this to be working?
