I am so glad Nissan will have a new Titan with a Cummings Diesel in it and so will Toyota, because when I can change out my truck, it will never be another Ford that's for sure because this problem is from 2009 to 2014
so 5 years, and a problem that affects more than just say 100 people, is just outright poor engineering
but to get my transmission rebuilt, like I said, the dealership will wait until I reach then end of my extended Ford warranty on a "Certified Pre Owned" truck, and then tell me it's the transmission and I have to pay thousands to fix Fords screw ups....
and I am a union guy too, but never another Ford.....
Can't blame you.....move on and be happy. Too bad Honda doesn't make a full size Ridgeline with a V8.

It's been months and many miles and they have not come back. Every symptom you guys list is what I had. See my video if you like. I was long winded, sorry...

There are two pins on each side of the truck that can make the noise at any time... Therefore thinking you have the noise pinned down to one side, or one spot can drive you crazy. It required taking the wheels, callipers and hubs completely off to do it correctly. There is no way to "shoot lube in there" and hope it works. Take the clips off, cover them in dielectric grease or grease that won't harden up.

Maybe my "clicks" weren't the same as everybody else's.. But no one has bothered to try this fix and say it didn't work. 300 views and one guy said share it more. I need feedback to learn if this is a fix that has worked and if I should bump it more often. Clearly hoping for Ford to find a fix isn't going to happen.
Good detail and information on your investigation and find. Can you post the link of the video you reference within yours about the pinion moving up and down?

I couldn't make a video of that sorry. I don't have a goPro. When my dad and I were trying to figure this out, what became evident was how hard it was to pinpoint the noise. It was dangerous trying to do it! Trying to be near the underside of the truck, while someone holds the brakes, puts it into D, R, P etc.. and give it gas to torque the rear end a bit and make the clicks - just isn't safe to do.

This is why I don't think anyone can diagnose the clicks as coming from the e-brake shoes, and why I get brushed off all the time. Ford techs put the truck on a hoist - so you can't replicate the clicks that way. And when they test drive it, it's a single tech with the windows down. You won't pinpoint it that way either. The clicks come from both sides of the truck (stereo) so people think it's just the rear end.

Get someone to sit in the driver's seat and play with the gears etc, with their foot on the brake and do light rolls and stops and try and get a look under the truck. You'll see what I mean. And with the echo - you won't be sure where you're hearing it from. Only when I messed with the ebrake shoes did I replicate the sound.

Finally, what I didn't mention in the video, is that I just pulled the clip off the pins, lubed them up with grease and rust proofing.. clicks are gone, permanently. I'm back to loving my truck. It's worth a shot.

I think I posted this question once before in this thread, but it may have been missed. After watching CdnBakon's video on the e-brake pins, I went out to test for the clicks with the e-brake engaged. It still made the clicks. So my question is, wouldn't the e-brake being engaged lock those pins and prevent them from clicking?

Default 2014 FX4 4x4 making chirping sound while in reverse

Hello everybody I recently purchased a 2014 F150 FX4 4 x 4. I only have 9000 miles on the truck andit's been making a chirping sound while in reverse. I'm not exactly sure where the sound is coming from but when I'm in reverse it almost sounds like The chirping noise is coming from the rear end. Any idea of what this could possibly be?

Haven posted on this in awhile and I see no one else has either but I figured I would update things. The TSB for the pop into reverse was done last august 2014. It lasted all of 2 days before the noise came back. I didn't push it with the dealership as they told me it probably would not work. Fast forward to mid june this year. I started hearing a bearing noise form the rear end. Took it in and they confirmed the inner and outer pinion bearings were bad. They felt it may have been due to the TSB work and the set up not being tightened correctly and that caused bearing wear. They replaced the inner and outer bearings and the bearing noise is gone AND the pop into reverse is gone. An added bonus is that my MPG also went up immediately after the work form 16.5 to 19.5 with the same exact driving style.

I am getting a clicking noise when going from park to reverse, or park to drive. I tried to make a video, is this similar noises to what everyone else is hearing? It might be hard to hear the noise over the sound of the brakes. 2012 F150 4x4 Ecoboost 35,000mi

with all the issues people are having with this... I am as well with my 2014 XLT

however the nightmare story is that when re-assembling or applying the TSB(s), many times this can create other issues, if re-assembling is done improperly as I know a couple people who have had their rear ends rebuilt.

can I drive "happily" with this?

do you guys get any driveshaft sounds when driving over bumps?
