Default Ford says no problems found with trans. Advice needed

So my 2012 5.0 4x4 F150 now has 70k on it and the last month or so has been acting strangely so I took it to dealer this week for the first time ever.I have ESP to cover the whole truck to 100k.

Here is what its doing. At least 3-4 times a week on the first drive of the day the truck will surge violently while creeping down my 100 yard long driveway while in 1st gear. Once it shifts to 2nd problem goes away. I have actually spilled a drink on myself during one of these episodes.

I drive 50 miles each way to and from work and 45miles of that is on expressway. When merging from on ramps, passing or faster than normal accelerating the trans will shutter on the 4-5 and 5-6 shift. Feels exactly like my old 94 f150 when the converter in the AODE was bad.

And now twice in the last week the truck slammed into reverse for no reason.

Was told no issues were found or repeated and they only found a couple stored codes in ecm saying it had some random misfires in the past. Check Engine light has never came on.They wanted to do a tune up for me at $404 and see if that fixed my problem. I passed on that and will do plugs myself this weekend.

So basicly Im kinda mad I paid my $1oo deductible for service and nothing was fixed.

So Im curious if anyone else has had any of these same problems with their truck and what was the fix? I want to return to the dealer next time with a little more info so they take me serious. Curious if any of these are common problems.

Yes its done this twice to me. Both times I had slowed right down to go over a speed bump. On one occasion it felt like I had been rear ended. I never had it checked because I figured they'd tell me exactly what they told you.

I think there's a few threads on here about this.
I chalked it up to transmission not knowing what gear it was supposed to be in.

Mine has never gone into reverse on its own...

Just be clear I didnt mean it shifted to reverse on its own. When I shifted it into reverse it slammed into gear almost like I had the throttle half way down.

My 2011 eco started doing the same thing at 70k along with the vacuum pump going bad. So I had the surge with no brakes every morning. FORD could find nothing wrong but recommended a complete brake job might help. I traded the truck for a 2013 as the rebates along with the incentives were better than living with a problem.
So now with my 2013 I have transmission noise along with MPGs that are in the 14-15 range and the dealer can find nothing wrong even when I give them a TSb number.. This will be my last ford as I get a new one every 3 years just short of 100k miles.

Just thinking out loud, because I don't have a good answer. But, could it just need a fluid change. I know Ford says 100,000 miles, but one never knows. Good luck.

my tranny (2013 EB) does the same thing just about every morning. It feels like it revs up and surges forward on its own just to get the rpms high enough to shift into 2nd. Fuel economy shifting strategy at its worst, maybe?

Happens mostly at first start-up of the day... good luck, last time I mentioned that to the dealer, they said it was turbo lag :S

I have tons of speed bumps where I live.....my truck did this weekly until I got heartthrob exhaust, changed my shift pts a bit and I rarely have it happen now....ford basically told me it was a fluke. I hate to reccomended this but if you got exhaust or a programmer it may fix it

As far as I was told no. The service guy felt his tech was correct in saying my issue was due to the spark plugs......that they wanted $404 to change....that Ford says are good till 100k......that I only have 70k on....

If I wasnt already at 70k I would most likely let it ride till it got much worse. But with my luck if I dont start now tryin to get it fixed it will fail the day after my ESP runs out.
