Water bottles or pop bottles also work good. I've had to do that on lots of tractors.

But that also wasn't the point of my original post either.

True, i've used them before on more expensive cars I have owned, cursed the manufacturer for a specific, nagging design and worked it out.

I get it, it seems Ford IS being cheap but sadly all manufacturers are doing it now. Don't get me started on how bad Honda is.

it is what it is.

retooling for new dies, designing/testing/mfgring new parts and constantly getting push back to "reduce costs" these are things that get overlooked.

Center console locks have come and gone and come back, lighters/ashtrays (optional on some vehicles).

On the other hand, they designed it to be able to fill it, with the use of a funnel. I use a funnel anyway, and if I was on the road and couldn't find a funnel but could find oil, I would wonder where that would be....

JC Turbo - Is your intake cover and valve covers from a mustang?
Yes.

Are the valve covers something that just pops on or is it the whole valve cover ?
The coil covers pop-on. FoMoCo doesn't sell the necessary mounting studs (6). I opted for ...

Though these will also work ...

As for the engine cover ...

I was gonna say, they have funnels under the back seat for this. But I was beat to it.

Y'know, the 4.6L in my old Mustang had the exact same oil filler extension. It seemed that everyone complained about how dorky that thing looked sticking up and would rip it off so their dress-up-kit brushed aluminium oil cap would fit flush to the valve cover.
Bet if you pop over to one of the Mustang forums, you could find plenty of people who'd give you their old one, if they didn't throw it away...

According to the owner manual, the funnel, under the back seat, is for fueling from a portable fuel container.

I don't think it would be a good idea to contaminate it with engine oil.

I looked up the fill extension. I used a 2006 Ford explorer 4.6L for reference

I came up with part number 6L2Z-6778-AA. but the MSRP is a lil pricey at $26.62. I am sure that Tasca will be cheaper, but once you add in shipping, it might be the same or cheaper to just grab it from your local dealer.
