What surprises me is the lack of concern on the part of the owners of these affected vehicles. Imagine driving 50 to 60 mph on a wet road approaching a slight turn in the road, while pulling your 30' travel trailer, and wham, it drops into first gear, rear tires stop spinning at 60mph and the engine rpm races to redline, and the rear end takes the path of least resistance, ie a straight line with the trailer wagging the dog. That should scare the crap out of anyone who owns one of these vehicles.
I didn't even know I had a problem until yesterday when I got the recall letter. This really is unacceptable.

I am stumped by your response. I have not been active on this forum. I have not had any transmission abnormalities or Ford diagnostic codes thrown. However with that said, when I received my letter of a safety recall, it took me by surprise. Ford knew they had a problem, as my search of this forum has revealed. I was a GM person until Obama bailed out GM, so switched to Ford. This is my first and last Ford I will ever own. I would not think about towing a trailer with my 3.5l Ecoboost until this problem is fixed.

The root of this problem is a (potentially) defective lead frame.
The software fix is an attempt to alter the failure conditions to something safer.
The real fix is to replace ALL the lead frames.
They are taking the cheapest way out by rolling the dice on those of us who have not had any issues.
They are not replacing the defective part, or reimbursing any one who has had to put pf warranty.
Typical corporate BS.

You're probably correct.
Strongly considering changing mine out when I drop the pan.
Doesn't seem that difficult.

Can someone please explain how the lead frame fails (mechanical/electrical) and what symptoms occur when it happens? I'd rather have a faulty part replaced than covered up by a software patch. Of course the recall is welcomed, I just don't want my pick up to live up to the moniker Found On Road Dead.
