Default Flowmaster 40 Series?

So I called my local muffler shop today to get a price quote on getting Flowmaster 40 Series installed on my truck. The lady told me it would be $125+tax for just the muffler, and $325+tax for the muffler and duals. My set up is listed on my signature. Now, my question is, what exactly would be the difference if I was to get the muffler and duals installed instead of just the muffler? Is it just for looks? From what I understand so far, the nice, deep rumble/sound comes from the muffler, regardless of whether you keep your stock exhaust pipe. She said that I could run duals out the back, duals on each side behind the rear tire, or duals on the same side behind the rear tire. If I get duals, which one should I get? Is it just preference, or is one better than the other? Thanks for helping me understand all of this!

BTW, I should add that I have an Airaid CAI as well as a Superchips Flashpaq programmer.

I have one with immediate turndowns and I like it. Don't think the rumble with change too much with the pipes. I believe it is just for looks I had full pipes to the rear in my last f150 and I think it just looks mexi and isn't worth the cost and didn't notice a change in sound.

So the sound just comes from the muffler then? The duals and all that are just for looks?

Unless you are installing say an x-pipe up front with true duals and high flow cats you won't see any real power gains. Don't take this wrong but with yours being a v6 the sound probably will not Change say on just duals or single. I heard the EB 3.5 with the 40 series someone done on this forum and it sounded pretty darn good for a v6. I have a SI/DO on my 4.6 with the 40 series and love it. I had a 2011 3.7 mustang that I traded in for my 2010 truck. I was looking to put a different set of mufflers on my mustang and the only ones I thought sounded really good to me was the Pypes M80, Basanni, and the rousch. The Pypes are meant to be mid-mounted. You could run one muffler and turn pipe out in front or behind the tire with a nice tip or dual tip. I know the 3.7 revs high and can sound raspy and tin like at the upper rpms in the mustang, not sure about in the truck though. I think you will like the flowmaster. Chech YouTube and see if you can find any decent videos.Good luck and post us a clip.
