First oil change

I know I'm late to the party but I checked my manual and this is what it says:
Scheduled Maintenance
Engine oil/coolant change intervals – 3.5L, 3.7L and 5.0L engines
Engine oil As indicated by the message center: do not
exceed one year or 10,000 miles (16,000 km)
I just rolled 7200 miles. I hadn't planned on changing it prior 10,000 miles or when the instrument panel tells me to, whichever is first. Is this a no-no?
