Default First Ford... need some help

I just bought a 2010 F150, FX4, SuperCrew in Blue Flame. 13 vehicles and this is my first Ford. I've been a huge fan of Dodge and Jeep, (still am) but after driving the 2010 F150, my wife and I fell in love. The truck fit our needs perfectly. It's got plenty of power, decent gas mileage, a lot of room and rides great. I plan on using this for my daily driver. I can't wait to take it on the first hunting trip. (This weekend) I've got a lot of plans for this truck, but I've got a couple questions pertaining to the F150. First, I've got the FX Plus Package with Sync, cruise, etc. Are the button's on my steering wheel supposed to light up? I don't know where anything is at when driving at night. Second, I've got an engine block heater and I can't find the damn plug in. Anyone know where that's located, specifically? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Good luck with new rig and the hunting this weekend.

And, glad to hear you and your wife finally fell in love - took a F-150 to get there.

Ah, that's good comedy... I knew there was a reason we bought a SuperCrew.

Back to the questions. Anyone?

First, welcome to the club !!

Next, if you are sure your truck came with the factory engine block heater (it is listed on your window sticker) then they can be difficult to locate, as I recall. I have a friend with an F250 who after a lot of looking, found it tucked up behind the right front bumper, secured with plastic harness clips. He had to unsecure the coiled cord from the clips and pull down the wire harness and re-route it through a tow hook hole.

That was on a 2005 Ford truck, so maybe it has changed? In any event, it will be either behind the bumper as I indicated, or somewhere near the bottom of the radiator or the front of the radiator near the tow hooks.

Hope this helps some.

Add: I have the XLT model with all the buttons on the wheel and they do light up, and are controlled by the dimmer switch near the headlight control.

In my 09 XLT all buttons on the wheel light up. Can't help you with the block heater question but the cord for the heaters on the diesel trucks I've worked with were above the bumper just below the grill.

I believe it STARTS on driver's side of engine block, towards rear. If you can find that, you will be led to the plug itself if you cannot start by finding the plug. Good luck.

You guys were right, it was hidden behind the front bumper on the driver side. Thanks for the help.

Anyone's FX4 or any other 2009-2010 F150's steering wheel lights not work? Is it even an option for them NOT to light up? I've tried everything.

My wife and I just bought an FX4 luxury in Black, they are pretty awesome. The lights on the steering wheel might not show if the dimmer switch is too low.

got the FX4 and lights light up when interior lights are on. You may have the auto lights enabled.

I've tried everything. Turning the dimmer off, on, varying between brightness's. Turning the lights on and off. Nothing seems to turn on the control lights on the steering wheel. Should I take it in, have it looked at?
