80MPH and 16MPG? Where's the problem?
Drive slower if you want gas mileage

I didn't post to complain that my 6000 truck loaded up gets bad mileage. I'm complaining that the EPA ratings mean nothing. EPA highway tests at 55 MPH? have these people ever been to the western US? If you went 55 in Nevada on the freeway you'd get run over. It's not even LEGAL to go 55 in a passenger vehicle on a 75 MPH freeway. Freeway testing should be done at 65 MPH at least. this isn't 1950.

I took a trip to Columbus, OH from Vermont and back, about 1600 miles, last June. I got 21.5 at 65 mph. Just my wife and I with luggage so we probably weighed 6500 lbs and a 3.73 rear end. You were probably close to 7K and going 15-20 mph faster.

eye, give it 3000k before judging the mileage, somebody on this forum said this and it seemed to be true. Up to 3000k I was averaging 14.3 and as soon as I passed the 3k mark my mileage started to get better,,why,,i don't know, drove the same way...Now with 4400k my truck has been ave 17.1-17.2 last few tank fulls and that's all city driving. I got MaxTow,3.73 and 6.5ft bed,off-road crew cab, with 20in tires/rims,,,so your has to get better than mine...

I wish ford would have never put these MPG meters and Instant MPG readouts on the trucks... haha, seriously.
