Default First 1000 miles.

How critical do you think it is to not tow the first 1000 miles (according to the owners manual), if you have around 800 miles on a new truck? My boat is around 3,000 lbs total and the new truck is rated to pull over 11,000 lbs.

The engine/trans/basically everything needs to go through several heating/cooling cycles to properly break in before you stress it too hard.

If you have 800 and it says to wait 1k I would personaly think your fine, just be easy on it, get the job done, no hot rodding. Again, just my opinion, no warranty expressed or implied.

I'd rather break it now as opposed to later. I've always broken them in the way I plan to drive them, I get those heating/cooling cycles out of the way in the first 100 miles. 300k on my last truck and 60k on this one with no engine or tranny related problems.

In other words, 13, you just drive them, eh? Your 300,000 miles is a testimony for sure! I've read a lot about the old "drive it like you sole it" theory, heel to the steel, rake to the brake, submission to the transmission!

With over 800 miles on the truck and only towing 3,000 pounds, you'll be fine....go for it.

Your truck doesn't consider 3000 lbs towing

I'd rather it break on their dime instead of mine.
