I would have no problem buying these from Ford but from what I've been told, the ones from Ford will only bolt to to the 6.5 bed. That's why I'm curious as to how these aftermarket steps secure to the 5.5 bed. I won't order these until I can see the installation instructions. Hopefully, they will work as shown. Very interested in this addition!

Definitely getting these. That center window is a PITA to reach plus it'll be nice to grab things from the front of the bed without having to crawl into the bed

I was just kidding, but I always thought they said 5'5" and 6'5" lol not 5.5 and 6.5

But if you have a short bed you don't have much other choice. It would be nice to see them side by side to see which one is easier to use and tucks up out of the way the best.
But also note, that $325 from Ford is when ordered stock option on truck. Try seeing the price getting them aftermarket OEM, about that EACH. Thanks

Good point! They are $300 each if bought after the sale.

I only know because I bought one after the fact for a 2009 I once had. Self install, and was VERY sturdy of course.

The Amp one I am sure will be a top notch product as they design and engineer things well and install is always well documented and straightforward.

But, I think even a great Amp unit could not be as sturdy feeling as the OEM bed step, even though it will look, feel and work perfectly and probably just as good as OEM.

I will contact them now to mention how the link on their site to install instructions does not work (if they have not heard or figured out already), as we are all curious on install (some trucks need to drill a hole, which does not bother me at all). Thanks.

I told them link was not working for install instructions. They just fixed it, and here it is:

No drilling needed.

Good to see that the Amp steps attach to the frame using two bolts rather than attaching to the bed using one bolt like the Bully step.

As for the 300 lb weight limit, I feel your pain. If these things are properly engineered, there's probably a bit of a safety margin. In other words, they'll probably support 10 or 20% over the maximum rating. What the rating does is limit the manufacturer's liability. If you weigh more than 300 and you break the step or are injured using the step, you'll probably get no support from the manufacturer.
