Default Finally! Bed Side-Step for the short box

I've been watching for someone to come up with a cheaper answer to the ford retractable side step. Now not only are these looking to be cheaper by $75 or so but they can be fitted to a 5'6" bed too!

Looks like they're due out this month, we've been talking about it for awhile and I sure like the looks of these compared with the bully side steps so I thought I'd pass it along.

Good catch. Thanks for the heads up on these, glad to see finally for the late model Ford shorts.

AMP stuff is quality. I now have the BedStep 1 and the power boards.

The Amp Research Bed Step 2 (yes, for short boxes too) for the 09-11 F-150 the OP mentioned is now available from their resellers. Realtruck.com has it for $226.95 free shipping.

I just ordered this BedStep2 from RealTruck.com. Hopefully it mounts up fairly easy.

Does anyone else already have this new one installed? If so, are you happy with it? How was the install?

Thumbs up

Subscribing to this thread.

I'd also be curious as to how they bolt up. Definitely interested in this option!

I have the bedstep for the rear of the truck and love it. I'm going to have to order this bedstep 2. Just have to figure out if there will beay clearance issues with the stock step rails. I don't believe so.
@Mloxery67 did you order both sides or just one side? Post pics when you get it on.

Me too. The install instructions link does not yet work (for our trucks) so i could not see, but if you click on other trucks you get a general idea. All i know is the other amp stuff i have is engineered great and installs no problem.

Looks like a good option for those with a short bed. Be aware of the differences though... $226 for 1 step vs $325 for 2 steps from Ford. 300lb weight limit vs 500 lb limit from Ford's step. But if you have a short bed you don't have much other choice. It would be nice to see them side by side to see which one is easier to use and tucks up out of the way the best.
