Factory trailer brake controller
I had the dealer here do it and flash the computer. Under $400 with taxes and ready to go. They even ran the wire for rear camera in that charge. Aftermarkets would cost a little more but not have the same amount of intigration with the trailer sway control as the factory set up.
I just got my 2011 F150 XLT supercab 4x4 offroad package. Has tow package but did not come with Factory Brake controler. I can buy it for 144.00 at dealer but can not find a dealer that can install it. I live in Michigan. is there and dealer in Michigan that any one knows that can Thanks for any info.

Bill Marsh in Kalkaska quoted me $89 to install and flash the computer. Where are you located?
Actually, it's only about a 10 minute job to take off one plastic panel, remove 2 screws, pull the wiring harness through the hole, plug it into the back of the controller, put it in the hole, install those 2 screws and reinstall the plastic panel. If you can tie your shoes, you should have no problem at all doing it in just a few minutes.
Your dealer seriously won't do that? Any dealer can - they just have to use the IDS computer to connect to your truck and turn on the TBC option in the instrument panel. You can even do the 'hard' labor of attaching the TBC to the truck for them..
Still have to get the dealer to do the flashing unless you want to blow some cash on a pass-through cable for the Ford software.
Instructions are in the online Workshop Manual section 206-10 - Auxiliary Brake System, Programmable Parameters.
It looks like it would take oh... maybe 10 minutes if they guy doing the work was computer illiterate.

Mine didn't come with the controller, so I worked it into the deal with purchase. The dealer added the factory brake controller at cost and flashed the computer.
When I went to pick it up and pay, they said "don't worry about it, enjoy"
Needless to say, I was tickled. My cost was supposed to have been 220 plus labor.

I have a 2010 XLT 4x4 with the factory installed towing package. I just ordered an OEM brake controller from Fairway Ford in Cleveland for $182 + $12 shipping. It will be here in a few days and because of your post that contained the etrailer video, installation should go smoothly. All that will be necessary is to have my dealer in Cookeville Tennessee "flash" the computer so it recognizes the new brake controller. Thanks a bunch. Norm "CHiPy6545" Black
