Default Factory step bars / running boards

Does anybody know if the factory step bars come apart? Meaning can you take the plastic end caps off and the ribbed plastic inserts out?

I have a 11 lariat and would like to powder coat them black.

You can, but I don't think it will be easy.

Yes... I know. you can remove the end caps and foot pads. If you look from underneath the step you will see all the clips that you have to work out. That is what I meant when I said I removed mine to have them Line-X'd then put them back on, so that my end caps and foot pads wouldn't be sprayed.

Ok thanks! Your step bars look really good. Mine are very different than yours I will have to get underneath and look at them.

That does look good! Nice and clean. I assume the grip on them is good? Like if covered is snow and whatnot. Looking at the chrome ones on mine look hokey so I want to do something similiar.
