F150 vs Silverado

F150 vs Silverado
My findings. I'm in the market for a full sized truck to replace my Tacoma, which is a nice truck, but just too small.
I had no bias, went about testing with an open mind.
Yesterday I took a Z71 for a test ride and kept it overnight.
Today I did the same with a F150.
Both extended or supercabs.
5.3 on the Chevy 4.6L 3v on the Ford.
The Ford is hands down the nicer truck: far nicer interior; absolutely no comparison, while both use plastic, the Chevrolet is just cheap.
The ride is superior on the Ford, the Z71 was very harsh on bumps.
Performance wise I find they are very similar; I'm impressed with the 3v 4.6, it certainly would handle my needs (non towing).
The Ford feels solid and taut.
I'm impressed.
Now to put together a deal, hence my other post.

not sure if you know this but the chevy still has drum breaks in the rear. the only way to get disk breaks on the chevy is to get the upgraded tow package. disk brakes come standerd on every F-150. just one more reason to get the F-150

yeah I know for certain they've been putting a lot of them in the newest body style. They're really pushing this new engine. I looked hard at getting one. said he got 16 in town. Jealous, but too much $. Pretty trucks though. My dad had an 07 Z71 w/ dual exhaust, other than that stock. It was a very nice truck but i do agree the interior plastics were inferior. I did like the advantages of his 45k truck compared to my maybe 35k truck new. but for the cash ford all the way.

can't comment on that because his exhaust on that 5.3 droned so bad. nice truck. yeah the wind noise was very noticeable but he had racks on the roof

Well, I tested both trucks and a few others before I bought my F150. GM did alot for the looks of the Silverado. It was long over due for a face lift. But in the end Ford won out. The F150 feels more solid and looks better IMO. The Silverado didn't feel as strong even with the remodeling. In addition, I would of had to buy a $27,000 Chevy to compare with the options on my $20,000 STX. With all the rebates my "out the door" price was just under 20K. That alone was enough to convince me to buy the Ford.
