Default F150 jumping out of Park while running

I have a three month old 2013 F150 Lariat. I put it in Park, got out of the truck, walked to the back of the truck, turned around and the truck started moving in reverse. From the time I got out until it starting moving in reverse was about 10 seconds. Has anyone heard of any problems with the F150 jumping out of Park while running? It is a console shift.

Thanks.

Are you 100% sure you got it all the way in Park?
I've done this once in an ambulance. We got there and I threw it in park and it wasn't all the way in park. It stopped rolling when it's front tire didn't make it over the curb. I was so lucky that night.

It never happened again because I always took that extra second to make sure it was good.

I thought about that possibility, but it did not move for about 10 seconds. Long enough for me to walk to the back of the truck, pick something up off the ground, and turn around, before it started moving.

Are you sure you had it in P ?
Could it have been between gears?

The idle is low enough that they don't move much in idle so I'm thinking you didn't have it all the way in P.

I assume this was the only time it did this I would agree you might not have pushed all the way into the P. A mistake I am sure you wont make again. But if it happens again then I would be concerned. But it might help just in case to apply the emerg brake when you on a hill just as a precaution or turn wheel to curb.

I'm pretty sure the OP didn't really have it in Park.

This is the main reason you should always use your parking brake.

Since no one else has had, or heard, about a problem like this, it must have been in between gears. I'll bet I never get out again without turning the motor off first.

Thanks for all the feed back.

If it's not totally in park, it can take a few seconds for it to fall into reverse. I always double check and give the shifter a nudge before getting out while it's running.
