F-150 vs. Ram 1500
I'll take the bait!
My truck choices came down to the 13 Laramie Longhorn and the King Ranch. Obviously I bought the Ford but here were my turnoffs about the Laramie. Only 5.5ft bed available, 3.92 gears to high for all around use, the hump in second row, poor gas mileage, but ulitmately it came down to safety. Being I have my family in the crew cab with me and in travel, the Ram was the poorest of the class as far as crash worthyness, there roof strength was the worst, they failed in other areas as well so to me this truck would crumple like a beer can if I ever was in an accident and the frame around me wasnt going to do its job and that was unacceptable. Ram's have come along way on there appearance and interior and it is sharp looking truck but if you dont invest the time/money into the frame and cabin frame (bones) of the truck then you got nothing in my book. The F150 was only 1 of three trucks that got the highest rating from iihs.org and it was the overall tops in roof stength and that is what separates Ford from Ram/Chevy. They say Built Ford Tough and they back it up!!

Price wise while sticker is nearly identical between the trucks, Ford beats Ram hands down on pricing, to the tune of $4k savings.
Thanks
Thanks
OK, I guess that makes sense...
I think this guy posted this question on a Ram site and just copied the entire post to this site too.
I see little point in buying a 2013 Ram with the 5.7 liter until you could test drive one with the 8 speed automatic. As far as I know all the 8 speeds are going in the V6 until sometime later this year? There were no 8 speed V8 Rams on dealer lots near me.
We lean towards Ford in terms of manufacturer bias in pickup trucks, but we did test out the new Rams. The ride quality is phenomenal with the rear suspension and Ram has really stepped up the game in interior quality.
I think you can get more payload out of an F150 though and I am biased towards the 6.5 foot bed which you can't get in a Ram.

gonna go out on a limb here and guess the OP cut-n-pasted his original question after posting it on a similiar Ram form... just forgot to switch Ram to Ford.
either way, my buddy has a '10 Ram I think, =/- year maybe.
I like the looks, ride is ok, power does what he needs, tows his heavy Jeep and trailer when needed, and he claims good milege when he cruises (cylinder shutdown tech?)
as said few times before tho, there were a few deciding factors for me;
1. safety
2. flat rear floor (fold up 40 seat, dogs have plenty of room to sit/lay while kids seats still have plenty of 60 bench left)
3. spacious
4. mileage
5. towing
6. looks
for me, Ford topped all of those aspects. some are plain numbers comparisons (floor, towing, space, etc) others are opinion/personal (mileage, looks)
You're on a Ford site, take your replies as such, and same when you get replies from the Ram site.
figure out what's priority #1, 2....8 for you and whoever tops the most, or most important, go with them. Over the years of use you'll have this truck, a few $k really shouldn't be the deiciding factor... in my opinion.

I would hope the Ram drives nice since they have a car suspension in them now. There is a reason trucks have leaf springs in the rear, coils just cant stabilize loads like leafs. A co-worker picked up a Ram after they put the car suspension in them and quickly traded it in on a Ford after towing his camper with it, said it was a scary ride in the Ram. If you want a real truck it sounds like Ford and GM are still the best options.
I went with a Ram because I enjoy being second best, and the Ram is simply the second best truck.
Ok but in all seriousness, the Ford is the better-built truck. Both Feature-wise and safety wise. There is a reason that Ford has been the best selling truck for 34 years running, and it is because they build the best trucks and stay ahead of the competition technology-wise. There is a Reason 645,316 US truck buyers chose Ford in 2012 and only 293,363 chose Dodge (Excuse me, RAM).
On top of that, the Ford is assembled in America with 75% US/Canada parts content while the Ram you are looking at was most likely Hecho-en-Mexico.

I couldn't read it objectively. So, for the OP... get what you like. I did.
