Default Extended Warranty?

I bought my 2010 Fx4 about a month ago. It has 82,000 miles. Im thinking about buying an extended warranty that looks like it covers all major components including electrical, transmission, engine and so on. The cost of the warranty is about $2200. Is it worth it you think to purchase a warranty for these trucks?

It would be valuable to read the many posts on this subject which also give you the online dealers with much better prices.

extended warranty search

And no, it's not worth it. But 1/2 the people will tell you that it is.

Time to make your own decisions, the internets can't predict your repair future...

With 82'000 miles definitely not. You won't be able to take full advantage of it. If you do get it then make sure it is a ford ESP warranty. 3rd party warranties seem to screw people over.

DO NOT buy a third party warranty.

Just think it over.
If you bought it a month ago can you tell if it was well maintained or not?
Look at it from various perspectives: How long is the warranty? How long do you plan to keep the car? Does it have a warranty already? If so How long til it ends? What motor? Ecoboost- Does it tick after a long standing cold start? Is the Warranty Ford ESP or third party?

Well it seems to have been well maintained. It looks brand new inside and out. It's the 5.4. As far as I know it doesn't have a warranty. I bought it from a used lot so not sure they would have even known. I plan on keeping it 4 or 5 years, but who knows... Plans change. It does have the notorious cam phaser noise. And one of the actuators for the heater just started clicking 2 days ago. I was going to go with a 3rd party warranty. The name of the company is Route 66. I was told about them from the Credit Union, Numerica, that I financed the truck through. It is the premium package which looks to cover just about everything for $2200. Coverage is 48 months/50,000 miles. No deductible, roadside assistance and rental car allowance.

I called Ford about their warranty and and it is 3 year/36,000 miles bumper to bumper for $2800 plus tax, so about $3050. The guy also said they would have to inspect the vehicle ($90) and if anything is wrong with it, I would have to do the repairs first... I.e. Heater actuator and possibly the cam phasers.

I don't know. Route 66 is sounding pretty good right about now... Or just put the money into savings for if I need it for repairs...

Did I read something wrong??? You said it already had 82,000 miles on it???

Never heard being able to buy an ESP for a vehicle with that many miles ALREADY on it.

Yes it has 82,000 miles on it. I told the guy at the ford dealership the mileage. He said I can get a 3yr/36k Mike warranty for $2800+tax

I wouldn't bother with either. Throw that money in a high interest savings account and let it grow. Keep it aside for repairs. You may not even need it. That route 66 warranty sounds great on paper but they will do whatever they can to deny your claims.

If you decide to buy a Ford warranty, go back and read my post about WHO to buy it from.
