I had the check engine light come on and took truck(2009 F150 STX 4.6l 2V)
to the dealer. They did a EEC test and cleaned the Mass Air Flow Sensor and
recalibrated PCM,performed induction service. They also performed multi point inspection.41500 Mi on vehicle
Parts: injector cleaner $34.95
Labor: $ 370.05

They had the truck all day.I read a post on hear on how to clean the MAF sensor so today I removed air filter(they never put new air filter in and this one had some dirt/sand on it and dirt /sand in air box) you can see and most likely clean the sensor without even taking it out, seem to be about a 10 min.job to clean the sensor even if you took it out of the housing. Is about right?.I'll what to check right off next time. Was just wondering.

Sounds right for dealer service. No point in going to a dealer after warranty. Find a good indie mechanic. Mine did that same service on my 4.6 for $150.

IMHO you were mugged. Recalibrate your PCM? What the hell does that even mean? What does your PCM do now that it didn't do before you brought it in? I'm not trying to pile on, but kydsid has it right. Find a local independent mechanic.

My truck will never see the inside of a dealer service bay once the warranty is over. $370 for a MAF clean and 'inspection'...good lord!@#%#^

You could have easily done all of that yourself for say $10-15 tops to buy a can of MAF cleaner. Would have probably taken 30-40 minutes tops as well. PCM recal will happen after you reinstall MAF and the truck starts and runs for awile. Induction service - I have no clue what they are talking about there as to what they consider this to be? I did this all on my old Mustang back when I had it and I had it down to 20 a minute job. It would not be much differnet on these trucks other than you may need to step on something to see what you are doing.

Induction service is when they use, usually, a machine to push fuel cleaner through to hopefully clean the top and bottom of the engine. Its called for by ford if you have rough idle and codes for misfire along with the other service that he had done. Some do it as preventative maintenance.

This is correct, they hook up a machine to clean the fuel system. The exhaust smokes like crazy when they are doing this.

That is ridiculous. Find a good independent mechanic somewhere.
