Default Is this expensive? Sounds it....

So I called a local shop, actually one of the only shops in Massachusetts, and I wanted a price for a BDS 6in lift with Bilstiens all around, new gears, XD series 18in wheels and brand new 37's all around.. He quoted me $7k out the door. Sounds kind of pricey to me, considering he can get all the parts cheaper than I can. What you guys think?

I am Anchorage and I was quoted $3100 for the lift installed with standard shocks. Wheels & Tires Eagle Alloys w/35" Nittos $3600, so maybe its high. I thought mine was too much.

Lift: 2000-2500
Bilstiens: ?
Gears: ~1500
Tires: ~1200
Wheels: ~1000

Sounds about right to me.
Not sure what the bilstiens run.

That sounds reasonable. Sure, they may get parts cheaper than u can, but do u really think that they're gonna cut u some slack? They're just running a business and trying to make the highest profit possible and that means they'll sell u the parts for the same price (or maybe more) than what u can get yourself. U also have to take into consideration how long it'll take them to do the job. That's some pretty extensive work, so they are gonna charge a good amount for installation.

Not sure what bilsteins they will use but, after looking them up they seem to be between 65-150 bucks so add another 350 to the above.

The more I think about it, those prices seem damn good considering labor fees as well.

If you have the cash I would jump on it.

Using Ebay only (you can find cheaper if you look around):
BDS Lift: 1850.00
4 5100 Bili's(2" lift) 470.00
4 Xd series Wheels 700.00
Toyo Open Country M/T 37/12.5R18 1392.00
Ford Racing Ring and Pinion (F&R) 280.00
TOTAL $4692.00

This is of course a quick(took me 5 minutes) search on ebay for all of this stuff. You could do better if you shopped around. This is parts only. No shipping included. And of course no labor, mounting/balancing of tires, alignment etc. Just putting the cost into perspective.

Professional installation, maybe a warranty on the work.

Sounds right to me...
