Default Expecting Too Much from HID's?

I finally installed my retrofit's last night and adjusted them to my tape marks of my halogens on the garage wall. Drove it and they lighted the road very well. Then I had my wife follow me around in the F150 while I was in our Ford Focus and dam, the hid's were unbelievably purple looking. I had to adjust them down to get rid of the purple cutoff but now they only light up right in front of the truck and don't throw any light down the road like my halogens did. Which would be great for around town, but I need these things to perform well out on dark highways.
The Hid's are the Mini D2S Stage III from TRS 5k.

OEM hid's are 4300k in color and they have a slightly blueish tint to them. Love how well they light up the road especially now that I have color match fogs.

These pics are on low beam. You can see how well the foreground is lit up.

I don't think you should care what the color temp look like from out front. Aim them where they're supposed to be aimed and enjoy the upgrade. The cutoff is the only thing that gives them the purple look, not the beam itself. The beam is 5000k white and that's all that matters.
I had a Mini d2s retro on my ranger with the 5k cbi bulbs and was in heaven. I could care less if the cutoff makes it appear purple/from certain angles.

Yeah, but they were severely blueish/purple. They looked like the cheap Chinese Ebay 8K lights. They look nothing like what the decent HID's look like when they come at you in other vehicles.

Oh. You're saying the entire beam looks that color?
What bulbs do you have? I had the osram cbi 5k bulbs and did not have that problem. My beams were perfect 5k with the only blue/purple being right at the cutoff line.

Mine light up the foreground very well, I am actually very impressed with that. How far would you say your HID's throw light out in front of your truck?

4300k is what the OEM HIDs are set at so if yours is at 5000k you will have more of a blue tint.

Plus I have seen a lot of HID lights and have seen a wide range of what one company says is 5000k in color compared to another so maybe if you call where you got yours and can ask for a set closer to 4300k those might be better looking.

My very first round of HIDs came from an aftermarket supplier and was supposedly 5000k and mine were pure purple as well but I was able to return them and got the OEM HIDs.

No, he's saying the entire beam is off, not just the cutofff. My osram cbi's did not have this problem. There is NO blue tint with a true 5k beam, only the blue/puple hue at the cutoff, which is normal . Hes saying his entire beam is emitting a purple/blue, that's means he's probably using crappy Chinese bulbs.
