Question Exhaust components

I was under my truck lurking around and looking at what it would take to swap out exhaust myself. But I was wanting to confirm what the separate components of the exhaust were.

Starting at the flange and moving back, there is a ~7" OD x 24" long component.

Then right before the muffler, there is a 3.5" OD x 12" long component with a weave pattern on the outside.

What are these? I know that one is the resonator, right?

I just did the exhaust on my 04 and I know it's a little older and it may be a little easier on the newer trucks that haven't been on the road as long but unless you buy an expensive cat back you really should just pick your favorite muffler and have a local shop run your pipes. I got my kit for cheaper than a shop could have done and I still wasn't impressed. Just my 2 cents but it wasn't worth saving a couple bucks when I could have had a shop do it for pretty cheap anyway!

yup resonator and a flex pipe. the eco boost is the only motor that uses the flex pipe. all others are just solid not sure why.
