Default EPAS failure no power steering.

After replacing epas for $1500 10 months ago at dealership i had it fail twice while making a turn. Have two months left on warranty but steering works fine after turning off engine and restarting. Im sure its saved in codes but what are they gonna do besides waste my time. I dont trust this truck anymore. Anyone else having this problem.

Take it in and let them document codes and your complaint for when it fails out of warranty, or trade it.

GM has the same problem.

I sympathize with your frustration.

Will the truck store a code when something goes wrong and you restart the truck, turning off the idiot light?

The service advance trac light has gone on and off several times after I restart the truck.

It was in the shop multiple times early in its life for the advance trac issues.

Last time i used an OBD reader but no codes were present.

they usually do store a code, a regular OBD code reader will not pull EPAS codes

Apparently there haven't been enough injuries or fatalities from EPAS failures for Ford to take it seriously yet. That would actually cost money.....

Go back - and don't take no for an answer.

It's going to get progressively worse, just as my original one did.

I'd love to know how many of us have replaced those things since 2011.

Hello
May disconnecting the electrical wiring help disabling the power steering at once?
I've got a problem too with this so called 'quality truck' (2013) and her power steering during late weeks. I don't need that power steering which does sometimes works as it should and other times don't.
So I wonder if I can just disabling without interfering with other parts in the truck. Does somebody tried it yet?
Regards
TC
