Default Engine, trans problems.

While I'm driving my 2013 f150, I all the sudden have a power loss while I'm driving at various speeds highway and local roads. Its seems like it goes into a very high gear even at 70 mph. My cluster panel gets a big orange wrench, my seatbelt lighht comes on, my speedometer only shows 0mph and my fuel gauges go blank with lines through them. If I pull over and shut my truck off and restart, it clears it and starts up and drives normal till the next time it happens. However today, pulling from a stop sign, it acted like it was stuck in first gear. I stopped and restarted and it cleared that as well. Is this in engine, trans or CPU problem? Need a little help in PA!! Thanks

Probably you should pull the codes to answer that question. Orange wrench should give codes. Here's my guess: transmission lead frame.

I have seen a few post about that now... what exactly is the problem with the frame that causes this?

Take it to a dealer there is a tsb for this. Should have been a recall.

Not exactly sure, it becomes disconnected or fails. Lots of labor time inside a transmission, though.

I've seen both the lead frame and leaking case connector cause these problems. Pretty easy repair for anyone familiar with ZF transmissions and should only take a few hours labor. https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts...z-7g276-a.html

With the lead frame only running $95 and 2.1 hours labor to replace it may be worth doing anyway.

I don't know if anything was done different after that time for 2013 and 2014. I figured it to be a lot more expensive job. i'd have to find a good trans shop around me for sure.
