Question eLocker keeps coming on without switch?

My friends 2014 XLT 4x4's elocker keeps coming on (icon on IPC and noticeable while turning) even without the switch being used.
If we pull the switch (ON position) the icon stays on...
If we push the switch back in (OFF position) the icon goes off for a sec then comes back on...
This leads me to believe the switch is ok.
We have tried pulling the main battery lead for 15 minutes to reset all the modules but it did not change...
We pulled the 4x4 control module fuse and of course we get a warning message BUT the locker is disengaged...
Anything we missed?

Dave

Probably a bad switch, replace it and see. They have been known to go bad occasionally (it pops up every few months on here). It is a really cheap part, can get on amazon, and if it doesn't work, return it.

I am having doubts about the switch as it appears to be functional.

Is the eLocker controlled by the TCCM (Transfer Case Control Module)?

The only thing your test proved was that sometimes the switch worked. You didn’t prove that something could be loose or it could be faulty. You’d need to find the pin out test for the switch in the service manual to actually confirm anything.

or replace the switch and see if it fixes it.

I'm still betting my money on the switch and if this was my vehicle I'd probably replace it without doing the pin out test (they usually aren't the easiest or quickest tests compared to replacing simple and cheap things like this switch)

Also, as said before, every single time that I can remember of this exact issue of the locker engaging/disengaging, it's been a faulty switch. Exact same symptoms and switch working like you said. Something comes loose internally and occasionally makes contact. When you move that thing it causes it to make contact.

Note, you don't even need to remove old one to test, just remove wire and plug in New. If problem solved, fully replace. If not. Return and look for next problem.

This exact same thing happened to my 2014 and a new 4x4 switch fixed it completely.

Default Problem found...

It was the switch... AND here is why.
As you can see there are only 2 screws holding the housing together.
The switch is at the bottom of the housing and when you press the shaft in it depresses the switch. The problem was with one of the screw stays broke it allowed the housing to expand enough for the switch to not stay closed.
By using a drill press to reduce the shaft height, I was able to get the screw to bite into the stay.
OH BTW there are 2 ball bearing in the housing with the shaft and if you are not careful they will come out. Just pull the **** and it will release from the switch and you can see where the bearings go on the springs. BTW the shaft is polarized so make sure you put it back in with the **** pointing the right way.
