yeah, I won't be pushing you around as I see you're just like me: once something's stuck in your mind... and I don't want you to buy my experience, as it might not fit your needs.

I've seen those vids before too and they actually leave someone buried in thoughts. They did to me until I had time to try out for myself. I'm happy with the results, but then again I didn't and won't go on a mud course, but the roller test could be something similar to ice/slush on the roads in winter time. To that I'd say tires are the key, not the ELD.

Just my thoughts, but I do find "suspicious" that the driver shakes himself a bit on the take-off like if his weight would make any difference inside an 1/2 ton truck. I could guess he got a little exterior help to get moving as the truck was sitting on the bottom and the wheels had no grip at all... hmmm, I don't have an ELD, so I cannot prove my theory

However to you, I'd advice that if you're in doubt and can amend your deal, don't wait and live with it. Better have it and never need it, than regret it! I would do it, no doubts about it

Or run a test for yourself on mud before changing the deal and probably losing some money.

you are probably right... my truck with 4x4 and good tires will be more than enough for any of my needs. i dont NEED to go through some serious nasty mud and if i ever do then i will not be doing it without someone there to pull me out if i do get stuck. just was wondering if there was some quick and easy way to put the ELD in my truck even though it spends 99% of its time on solid ground. thank you again for your input!

More than welcome!

If you ever have any doubts about the truck's behaviour, you can PM me any time. My truck is 3.55, open-differential, 6.5' bed, tow package, MySync (engine doesn't matter, but "bug-free" so far).

Whatever you decide, I just hope you have the same luck I've been having with my ride (knock on wood!!) - It's the best car i've ever owned!

A locker is really helpful in deep sand, as I found out this weekend at that beach. One of my rear tires started to dig (I was in 4hi) when I was creeping along and I started to bog. Granted, I probably could have made it without using the locker but it made getting out of that soft spot very easy

So the one wheel spin control didn't kick in when you lost traction?

The E-locker will be good in 25 years when someone wants to turn my truck into a mud truck. I don't plan on mudding or doing any other kinds of actives that would require I use it on a new truck.

I wouldn't go back to an open differential after having my ELD. Boat ramps at the lake and river are a breeze now. No needs to rev up and create a spin and let the traction control kick in and kill engine power and use the brakes. I know it works but it sounds like your destroying your truck. Just saying, in my situation it is really a no brainer.

I ask the same question? It always kicked in with me, at least on the deep snow, even on an incline.

pro tip for those like me with an open diff:

If youre really stuck and you have a one tire fire out back, give a few clicks of the ebrake forcing both tires to spin, allowing you to crawl out. This is for emergencies only! Ive been in some soupy stuff and crawled right through it not needing the ebrake trick. Good tires and proper driving technique make all the difference
