Educate me SYNC

Incorrect. If you have Pandora, Slacker, etc. you can get the Navigation to display current song, artist, etc. Even thumbs up or thumps down in Pandora right on the Navigation screen. The thing to remember is that you have to have the USB cable hooked up at the same time as Bluetooth streaming.
I've had hoped that our trucks could do this, but I had tried in the past with no luck. Is there anything else besides having the USB cable plugged in while bluetooth streaming that is necessary to enable this? Does this work for Android?

you don't "bluetooth stream" when you have the usb connected... Sync Applink is what you're talking about. If you have apps like Slacker, Pandora, and some other apps, the truck will communicate with those through your phone when connected by usb. I have the regular radio not the nav...I'll hook one up at the dealership tomorrow to try to get some more info to help ya out. I haven't have any of my customers ask about that feature.

I see what you're talking about now - unfortunately, it seems as if Sync Applink isn't available for our trucks yet. It's only available for the Fiesta, from what I read. I'm logged into syncmyride.com now looking for it. I'll let everyone know if I find out any more info.

Just found more information here:
http://www.ford.com/technology/sync/packages/
It says that there is "Limited Availability" for Appsync for F150. Does anyone know what is required? I have the Sony audio/Factory nav combo and syncmyride says that appsync isn't compatible.

To clear things up, here's a few photos of Sync applink and to show that it does work, it's just cumbersome to get it to do so.
First, open the program on your phone. I my case, iPhone 4 and I opened Slacker Radio.
Once it is running, plug in your SYNC cable and wait a few seconds for it to load up. At this point, if you turn the source to USB, this is what will come up on the screen:
Here is the important part, this will not show up on the screen if you do not have Bluetooth running. The radio uses Bluetooth to get the song information from the phone for it to display properly. However, we are still not on Slacker Radio yet, just sending audio through USB.
If you have Slacker running, you should get a screen on your phone that looks like this when you plug it in:
In order to get Slacker, YOU MUST USE THE VOICE COMMAND and tell it "Mobile Apps". If Slacker (or Pandora) is running on your phone, it will display that it is available on your screen. Then you say "Slacker Radio".
When it is working properly, your screen will now look like this and you will be able to thumbs up or thumbs down songs, look at playlists, add to favorites, etc.
Notice that source now says "Slack" and that Slacker Radio buttons are available on the left hand side of the screen.
Additionally, you will see this on your phone screen:
So, as you can see. Applink does work, but it is a PITA and Bluetooth being ON is a must at the same time the cable is plugged in. Even though the audio is coming through the USB, the system needs bluetooth for the information. I disconnected my bluetooth to test it out and while the audio still played, all of the information disappeared from the screen.
If there is enough interest, I can clean this up a little and take some additional pictures and do a complete write-up and we can make it a sticky.

All you have to do is plug in the USB hit phone under the nav screen then moble apps and you will see pandora as an option. On the iPhone the apps are running in the back ground (unless you manually close them) so there's no need to open it first. I never used slacker but that's what I do for pandora.

Hmm, I have Sync but don't have the Nav. screen so wonder how this will work on the smaller Sync screen. Might have to try that out this evening.

This sounds great - but from what I'm finding, this is only available on 2012+ trucks. It doesn't work for 2011 yet. Not sure when we will be able to get Appsync. I have an e-mail into Ford for more info.
