Default My Vac pump

here's a short video of a sound I heard under the hood. After a few days of internet diagnosis I was able to take it in (had to wait a week to get an appointment). I played the video for the service guy-he nodded his head. After ordering parts and service time I had it back in 4 days with a new pump.

I never noticed failing performance just heard the noise.

2011 Ecoboost, crew cab, 4x4 with 67K miles

no problems since the repairs

interesting, my truck has had HORRIBLE mileage (14.1 over 20k miles) and my vac pump was replaced last week and I have 100 miles on this tank of fuel and its in the 18+ mpg so far. this truck has never got mileage like this going back and forth to work. while that all sounds good, the 2014 Ram they gave me as a loaner with only 30 miles on it got over 20mpg on my same commute, so my eco may finally not be having the horrible mileage it has in the past the ram still got better MPG.... time will tell if this mileage holds up after the vac fix.

Just an update I went to my dealer and they told me that my warranty was over but they sold me the pump with a 40A fuse and I changed it myself I think that a piece that is known to break like this should have a recall by ford but I couldn't continue to use my truck has it was not safe so I decided to change it anyway. Now everything works find let's see how will it lasts.

This is why a person has to love this forum.
This is exactly what I have going on with my truck. Thanks to all for providing the solution.
Now the fun part: trying to get Ford to cover ANYTHING under my extended warranty.
Broken gas cover- nope. Considered "trim" ...on a vehicle with no gas cap.
Rear window- nope. Flat out "sorry...not covered".
Vacuum Pump: we will see.
Does anyone know (maybe I missed it): when they replace it, are they replacing with the new style they updated in the '14's ? Thx for any info you can share.

I'm here to help, Jimaa66. Please send me a private message with some more information, including an updated odometer reading, your name, VIN, servicing dealer, and best daytime contact number. With this I can look into some available options.

With all due respect, Ford Service ca- I'll pass. There is absolutely nothing you can - or will- do for me.
You see, I've been down this road before with you regarding the defective rear windows in the 2011's. Ford should be upgrading people with the new one as they are actually exploding on some vehicles. Mine has failed. And I have a full coverage extended warranty- and Ford will not replace it. Your help was asked for there- and I still have the original window.
I'll deal with this, thanks.

Add me to the list of failed pumps, although I never experienced the noises posted here, I had more of a chuffing (for lack of a better word) noise 2-3 days a week, at cold startup that would last 10-15 seconds. It sounded more like a pulley noise.

Went to reposition my truck on my very slight declined driveway with my other car several feet behind me, had my foot on the brake the whole time, but when I went to stop the pedal went rock hard and I was pushing harder and harder and still rolling. Then it made an ABS activating noise as I pushed with much more force. I got it to stop in time before hitting my own car luckily.

If I let it warm up completely to where the idle is low it is fine, I'm guessing as when it's in fast idle it is not producing any or enough vacuum on it's own. I pulled the headlight, had my wife start the truck up with my hand on the pump and my ear near it, heard and felt nothing. Then I had her mash the brake many times and still not a peep or any vibration from the unit at all.

2011 EB, with 58,000 miles on it, and last EB vehicle if not last Ford. Should be a recall, how many injuries or deaths have the bean counters allotted to this issue?
