Default Ecoboost under Load?

Just came back from fishing, towing my bass boat. Had it on Tow/Haul mode,,i get on highway and doing 60-65 and as I slightly step on throttle you can feel the truck hesitating, misfire or something to that effect(keep in mind the truck was in 6th gear, seems this is when it happens). This is second time it has done this..For those who may experienced this,,would you say its spark plugs, catalytic converter or what? Seems I get the same hesitation (normal driving) when going from 3rd to 4th under acceleration. I am calling dealer Friday to schedule but any input would be nice if someone had this same issue and what did it take to repair or fix..Thanks!

Have you ever checked the gap on your spark plugs?

Could it be bad coil(s)?

It's easy, much easier than the spark plugs on my 06 5.4L and much easier than the 5.8L in my Bronco.
Remove the oil cap and pull straight up on the cover and it will pop right off. 8mm or 5/16" socket to remove coils. 5/8" spark plug socket and an extension.
They may not need replacing, but knowing they have the proper gap is good for peace of mind.

Nasty, so you think the gap is off? I have seen on here the gap should be around .30-.33 do you think that is correct? Also, do these plugs need to have certain amount of foot lbs to tighten or just snug? It sure would be nice if it was just the gap. I have always just replaced plugs and never have tried to regap,,any suggestions if there off to fix?

If you have a plug issue, even a gap issue, If that cylinder is missfiring at all you would throw a code. If it's just a gap issue let the dealer check it out to document what was done incase some time down the road there is a problem related or steming from this.

I say check both the spark plugs and coil. I had the same issue over 10k miles ago and my Ford dealership ended up replacing a coil. I haven't had an issue since.

Supposedly they tightened the gaps on the newer trucks. On some 11's and 12's the gaps were all over the place. If I had a newer truck that was missing I'd still check them because that could be the problem or so you can eliminate that as the problem and look elsewhere.
