Default Ecoboost test drive

So, I dropped by the dealership yesterday to see if they had any Ecoboost f-150's yet and they had 1. I took it for a spin and was impressed with the truck very much. Me and the salesman were talking about trucks in general for a bit and then I got back in my work truck and headed out. As I passed through the used car section looking for a expedition for my parents I spotted this......bought it today for the wife.....YEA RIGHT!!!!! Traded in our 08 GT for this.....

Nice truck!

They should put an Ecoboosted 5.0 in that one.

It's an 08 with 5k miles on it....someone bought it and then it sat up for 2 years......I thought it wouldn't be much different than the GT we had. I was wrong...that 5.4 in that mustang has so much low end torque that is is hard to pop the clutch and not break traction in the rear....the light rear end on these things might help with that though....

insurance wasn't as bad as I thought it would be...that was the selling point I think.....if I get a ticket I'm screwed though....got to watch it!!!

Well, I have to tell ya...the new trucks compared to my 04 are very different. It feels like a big car really. As far as the motor goes...I have a little bit of a reference point considering mine is SC for the last 16 months. I would have to say that mine has more low end torque....due the the already good low end torque of the 5.4 in combination to the SC. The EB is very smooth though in how it behaves and delivers said torque. Mine is loud and obnoxious and the EB is quite and refined. You can hear the Turbo barely under acceleration, this is due no doubt to the extensive intake system that dampens it considerably. I bet when some of ya'll put your CAI systems on them it will bump it up a bit.

When i'm accelerating in my FX4, I like to give it some gas and then when it is about to change to 3rd gear, I let off of it a bit and there is a nice transition to the next gear and still keep the boost up without over revving it and acting like a teenager. I did this with the EB on an on-ramp and it transitioned very nice and even had more acceleration when the gear changed.

I was truly impressed with the motor and truck. I'm not going to buy one just now though. I'm going to wait a bit till some more reports are in on how it tows. I know it will take off just fine, but, I'm more interested in how it does just rolling down the road at speed with a good load on it. Does it have the torque at 1500 rpms to sustain 60 MPH without constantly working the Turbos??? And how is the MPG with a good load on it? My truck gets between 12-13 MPG when towing my 5k lb boat. What will the EB do for MPG when towing a 5K load??

I'm going to wait for a bit. Motor wise....truck wise...I'm still going to wait a bit

I have already heard this rumor... and it may become more than that for SVT... but along the lines of the 3.5 to start with.
