Default Ecoboost Raptor Conversion

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1014042

A buddy of mine sent me this link. I wish I had the money to just rip apart two brand new trucks to make an Ecobeast!

That is definitely pretty bad ***. But for the money they put into it, I would have either just gone with upgrading the hell out of that 6.2, or getting as powerful of a crate engine as would fit. And probably have saved a fair chunk of change.

HP is not that important in a truck like a Raptor....Talk to the SVT guys or anyone that does offroad racing....Suspension is what is important, too much HP actually can be an issue. You need a balance.

As for intercooled motors....unless you have a serious inter-cooling setup, there is a little thing called heat soak...when that happens, your no longer making power. In hot conditions, that happens quick. Most true off road vehicles are not supercharged or twin turbo charged. Again...balance

I would rather have a EB FX4 with a long travel suspension kit added. probably would save at least $100K in that build with all those hours, materials, etc.

In looking all the work that was done I honestly have to ask: "wouldn't it have been cheaper to buy an actually Raptor - then just swap only the engine. Or just put the ecoboost symbols on a Raptor as is.....Must be nice.....

Looks like a bunch of work to make a $100k truck look like a $50k truck, it is nice, but for that much work I would have put and old 70 or 80 something Ford truck on the Raptor frame and keep the 6.2

Kind of an oxymoron when you have an Eco engine in truck made to tear up the earth

That is a beautiful peice of craftsmanship. Who cares how much someone else spent on it anyways. You didn't, so just sit back and appreciate the work that went into it.
