Default EcoBoost MPG

I have 3600 mile on my 2011 Screw Ecoboost. In the beginning I was getting 14.5 to 15 MPG in town and 16 to 18.5 MPG on the freeway.

Recently my in town is 15 to 16 mpg, which I am happy with. I went on the interstate @ 76 mph for about 350 miles with 4 adults averaging 200 lbs, my average was 15.1 mpg.

I realize in order to get 18,20, 22 etc. you need to be in the 45 to 55 mph range, but with 4 adults this October I was seeing 16.5 to 18 mph. Not sure if it’s related to the colder weather or

Cold weather and winter blend fuel aren't helping.

Might be a good reference to fill the tank with premium... seems weird that same fuel in town is giving me better mileage, on the road worse...

A strong headwind will kill highway fuel mileage in these 3 ton bricks as well.

I only have 1900 miles on mine but this past week, a 1000 mile trip averaged just 17.2 mpg; of course, I was driving 75+ most of the way and it was cold and raining almost the entire trip.

I was hoping for 20+ but maybe this spring!

I'm getting 14.2 mpg. Drive mostly in town to work. 8 miles round trip. Leaving my house and for the first mile speed limit is 20 mph. Then highway speed limit is 40 mph for about 2 miles. Switches to 45 mph for about 1 mile then back to 30 mph for 3 1/2 miles. for the rest of the 1/2 mile on the military base is 15 mph.

Thanks Guys... Guess I will ride this out until spring.... My 2000 Ford Expedition was 12.5 down hill with a tail wind and no power, so I will keep that in mind..

If you are getting less than the rated MPG's on your ecoboosts there is something causing it. Bad driving habits, hilly terrain, or mechanical issue. I have 17,000 miles on my 2011 ecoscrew FX4 and am currently averaging 18.9 over those 17k miles. I get 15-18 around town, and 20-24hwy (65-75mph). Winter gas/temp drop has cost me about 1-1.5 mpg on the last couple of tanks. I hand calculate my mileage on every tank. Good luck.
